2023 SCA Conference Outline
Science for Sustainability,
Resilience, and Human Well-being
October 19 - 21, 2023
Seoul, Korea
>We are living in a challenging era of the rapid evolution of sciences and technologies, severe climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, energy shortage and the reorganization of the global supply chain. Climate change has long been a very critical threat to humanity. Many countries try to positively respond to rapid climate change with global collaboration.
During the past three years, humanity faces another critical threat, COVID-19, which spread rapidly across the globe. Due to the worldwide spread of COVID-19, we are experiencing not only the inconvenience of social distancing, but also the widespread economic recessions. This may be the right time for us to reassess our way of thinking and action in our academic research, education and social lives to respond to the impact of COVID-19, especially in the perspective of sustainable and resilient recovery. All of these problems, including energy shortages and the global supply chain, are related to survival of human beings and sustainable development and cannot be solved by a single discipline, particular region, or specific sector.
The 2030 Agenda for sustainable development requests the support of all United Nations Member States. The Science Council of Asia (SCA) has been promoting cooperation in scientific research to handle diverse and urgent issues on sustainability in Asian countries and the world. The 22nd Science Council of Asia Conference will focus on how “Science for Sustainability, Resilience and Human Well-being” can be developed and implemented for advancing sustainable society development in Asia and the world.
